Welcome to Little Stars Child Care at Cheddleton
Here at Little Stars our main focus is to create a warm, welcoming, and homely environment for all our families and staff. We believe each child is unique in their journey in life and by creating a positive, nurturing environment here at Little Stars, this will allow each individual child to build on their foundations and enhance their potential in order for them to thrive to the best of their abilities as their lives progress.
We believe that every child is an individual, and take great pride in ensuring that we provide a secure environment for all children from the beginning of their time here with us. We have a relaxed settling in period and offer a range of inductions over a three week period. These settling in periods continue as the children transition through the rooms during there time with us. Relationships and communication with parents/carers are more important than ever at this early stage of development and we encourage this involvement via our key person system. We provide a consistent and reassuring person for each child to help them feel more comfortable.
We are well known for taking the children’s on little adventures, such as walks out in the local community, trips on the bus into the local town, visits to the local library. We also have weekly dance and sports session catered by local companies, these all contribute to the learning and development for all the children. We support the local community by shopping local, involving ourselves in local events such as parent and children’s groups, remembrance celebrations, meals out and much more. We cook hot meals on site daily and encourage the children to participate in preparing these meals when possible. We provide food to suit the needs of all children, whether its during the weaning process or possible intolerances or allergies.
Sensory play here at Little Stars can include watching and feeling bubbles, looking at high contrast images, exploring texture, shape and a range of different medias such as gloop, paint, chalk and much more.

Our Baby Room - 'Where our journey begins'
Our focus first and foremost in the Baby room is to provide a safe, calm, enriching and homely environment where every child’s individual needs are met. Our staff understand that every child is different and we support and encourage their development through experiences, activities and care routines. From birth children use their senses to explore and help them make sense of the world around them. We believe it is an important part of early childhood development and provide plenty of opportunities for babies to actively use their senses.
Caitlin is our Baby room Manager and deputy manager and has worked at Little Stars Cheddleton since 2018. Caitlin provides a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all the babies as they begin there journey here with us. Caitlin has completed specialist baby training and ensures that her baby room staffing team have up to date baby care knowledge, time and opportunities to build parent partnerships and quality one to one time with each individual baby.
We believe that outdoor play is important, even for babies. They have their own separate safe space here where they have the opportunity to explore whatever the weather. We spend lots of time outside including sleeping, the fresh air helps us to sleep! We also love to get out and about, visiting the park, going to see the local wildlife and play groups. We have a variety of different transport including slings, buggies and pushchairs which help us get out and about.
We provide care in our baby room from Birth to 18 months dependant on the individual child before they move up to our Toddler room.

Our Toddler Room - 'Where we build our foundations'
Welcome to our Toddler Room here at Cheddleton. Here we have a very dedicated team of practitioners who go above and beyond for all the little people in the room. We encourage the children to build on their foundations through using a child centred approach and in the moment planning focused on the children’s prime areas of learning. We focus on progressing children’s current skills and interests alongside introducing new activities and opportunities.
We still in-corporate the key person approach so that each individual child’s needs are meet. We have a flexible routine of the day where the children have access to adult led activities, free play and opportunities to explore the outdoor area and local facilities. We find small group times a very valuable learning experience that enhances all the children’s social, emotional and communications skills. The toddlers thrive from having hands on experiences in a setting which creates a homely feel. Children spend there time in the toddler room from aged 18months to 3 years

Our Pre-School Room - ‘Where we enhance our potential’
Welcome to our Pre school room here at Cheddleton. Our wonderful Pre school Room is a small and homely environment looking after no more than ten children aged from 3 years to reception. There’s always two staff to support the needs of all the children and we find that a small group allows more opportunities to enhance the children’s potentials.
We prepare the children for the school environment by creating a more structured approach through incorporating table top activities, turn taking games, developing basic life skills and personal care routines. We reflect on all areas of learning under the Early years foundation stage framework and ensure that when the time comes for your children to move on from Little Stars they are prepared for the big wide world.
Rachel Perry
Level 3 Nursery ManagerHI I’m Rachel, I am the full time Manager here at the Cheddleton setting, I am a mum of 3 beautiful children, 2 girls and a little boy who are all at school. I have a Level 3 CACHE diploma in Childcare & Education and safeguarding lead level 3.
I have 12 years of childcare experience looking after children of various ages right up until high school age. I started my employment here at Little Stars Childcare Cheddleton in March(2023), I initially started in the toddler room enjoying my time with the 18 months – 3 year olds, getting to know all of the children along with their families and staffing team, during this time I had the opportunity to spend time in all of the rooms getting to know all the children and staff throughout the Cheddleton setting.
Being a very family orientated person, my spare time is mainly spent with my little family, we have days out now and again but also enjoy quiet days at home just as much. In my recreational time I like to go horse riding, going on walks with our boisterous doggy companion and meals with family and friends.
